We still don't have the first A Quiet Place 2 teaser that debuted in theaters this past weekend with Black Christmas. But we do have a brand new image from A Quiet Place 2. The first movie proved to be one of the truly unexpected hits of 2018. As such, a sequel became a top priority for Paramount Pictures. John Krasinski, who not only starred in the original but directed as well, returns (behind the camera at least). As we can see from this first-look photo, Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds are all back as the Abbott family again as well.

The first image from A Quiet Place 2 doesn't give away too much. We see the trio of family members walking out in the open, with Emily Blunt holding onto her newborn baby. It looks as though this could be picking up mere hours after the finale of A Quiet Place, which saw the Abbotts finally getting a little bit of a leg-up in the fight against the mysterious monsters that have taken over. John Krasinski, who wrapped A Quiet Place 2 in September serves as the writer/director this time around. He had this to say about the upcoming sequel.

"I love the idea of the first one, that Emily and I as characters were all about surviving versus the thriving... All [my character] wanted to do was survive. And [her character] says, 'That's not enough. We have to thrive. We have to let these kids be whole human beings'. And after I'm gone, I'm loving seeing Emily really battle with that, that maybe survival was the way to go. And maybe this idea of thriving was too dangerous."

Plot details for the sequel remain scarce. The entire production was shrouded in mystery, and even the early marketing has kept that going. A short teaser recently played in theaters ahead of Black Christmas, but has yet to make its way online. So this photo is one of the first official bits we've had to go on. But with the release date creeping up fast, that's likely to change in a hurry.

Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Dunkirk) and Djimon Hounsou (Captain Marvel, Shazam) join as new A Quiet Place 2 cast members for the sequel. Details on their roles remain under wraps at this time. Original writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods opted to be less involved in A Quiet Place 2, instead opting to make original projects. It's likely they will still be credited as producers though.

A Quiet Place was embraced by critics and audiences alike upon its release in 2018. That helped propel it to a stellar $340 million take at the global box office, working from a budget of just $17 million A Quiet Place 2 is set to hit theaters on March 20, 2020. With that in mind, we should be seeing a teaser trailer sooner rather than later, so keep your eyes peeled for that. In the meantime, be sure to check out the new photo for yourself below.
