One of the best fright flicks to hit the big screen last year was co-writer/director John Krasinski's A Quiet Place starring Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe. And today we have word from Krasinski himself over on Twitter that filming has officially kicked off in Western New York on A Quiet Place 2.

On top of that, we hear that the sequel will shoot over 35 days in Erie County with most of the shooting taking place in a small village outside of Buffalo called Akron. From there, production is said to be moving to Chautauqua County for ten days before moving to Dutchess County for two days, and finally wrapping things up with one day of photography in Ulster County.

John Krasinski directs A Quiet Place 2 from a screenplay he wrote himself. His wife, Emily Blunt is all set to return to the role of Evelyn Abbott, along with Millicent Simmonds as her daughter, Regan Abbott, and Noah Jupe as her son, Marcus Abbott. They will be joined by Batman Begins and 28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy this time around as well as Atlanta and Child's Play breakout Brian Tyree Henry. Presumably, Henry and Murphy will be playing fellow survivors.

Krasinski directed the original A Quiet Place from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Bryan Woods and Scott Beck based on a story by Woods and Beck. Michael Bay produced the creature feature along with Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, and it featured music by Marco Beltrami, cinematography by Charlotte Bruus Christensen, and editing by Christopher Tellefsen. Erik Aadahl and Ethan Van der Ryn were nominated for an Academy Award in February 2019 for Best Sound Editing on the movie.

Platinum Dunes and Sunday Night Productions were the companies behind the hit horror flick which Paramount Pictures unleashed into a theater near you back on April 6, 2018. The $17-21 million movie was a big hit at the box-office scoring a total of $340.9 million worldwide. The original film was also a big hit with critics, snagging a 95% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: "A Quiet Place artfully plays on elemental fears with a ruthlessly intelligent creature feature that's as original as it is scary -- and establishes director John Krasinski as a rising talent."

While all that praise and cold hard cash might make a horrific hurtle for Krasinski and company to leap with A Quiet Place 2, I'm personally hoping they get the job done as I cannot wait to go on further adventures within the silent world of A Quiet Place. While I'm not one of those guys that thinks the motion picture was a masterpiece, I did love the hell out of it. And as a massive fan of The Office I can't help but smile anytime I see Jim Halpert up on the big screen. Sue me. Add in his charming real-life wife, Emily Blunt (May Poppins Returns) and the original A Quiet Place was a real joy in this movie-goer's eyes. This update comes to us from John Krasinski over on Twitter.
