Yesterday we passed along the exciting news that Paramount Pictures and Blumhouse Productions have an all-new Paranormal Activity flick in the works. And hidden within the article announcing the new entry in the infamous found footage franchise, there was also mention that filming has begun on writer-director John Krasinski's A Quiet Place 2 starring Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, and Brian Tyree Henry.

The reveal happened at this year's CineEurope in Barcelona where Paramount Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos surprised attendees with a peek at some of this year's biggest titles. These peeks included a first look at Top Gun: Maverick, an extended look at Ang Lee's Gemini Man starring Will Smith and Will Smith as well as that new Sonic: The Hedgehog movie, and the above-mentioned next entry in the Paranormal Activity series. At this year's CineEurope, John Krasinski even shared a message from the set. No word on what the message was - but we can only assume it was delivered in sign language.

This new entry in the hit sci-fi horror series will not only see the return of Krasinski's wife and Marry Poppins herself, Emily Blunt, but young breakout stars from the first film, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe are all set to be returning to the world of silence next year as well. As mentioned above, the now papa-less family unit will be joined by some mysterious types played by Batman Begins and Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy and Child's Play and Atlanta star Brian Tyree Henry.

And speaking of Brian Tyree Henry, recently the If Beale Street Could Talk actor was asked to shed a bit of light on just where Krasinski and company are planning to take the story this time around. He revealed:

"I'm still trying to find that out, but I really think that what we'll do is we'll see more of that family continuing to survive and finding out that they're not the only ones. And I think that we're also going to get a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened. I think that people want to know that. But I think you're just going to see another side of it... more of humanity that survived this thing in this next story."

For those of you out there that might not know, the original film was kind of a big deal last year when it landed in theaters, scoring an extraordinary $175M+ at the domestic box office and snagging a 95% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. A Quiet Place was based on a screenplay written by Krasinski along with Bryan Woods and Scott Beck. The taut and original thriller followed a family who must navigate their lives in silence to avoid mysterious creatures that hunt by sound. Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and Lee (John Krasinski) are determined to find a way to protect their children at all costs while they desperately search for a way to fight back.

Paramount Pictures recently moved A Quiet Place 2 from its previously announced May 15, 2020 release date up to March 20, 2020. But if you just cannot wait until then, remember that the original flick is now available on Digital, 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and DVD. This story comes to us via Deadline.
