Paramount Pictures has revealed the first teaser trailer for A Quiet Place 2. This footage was initially revealed last weekend in theaters exclusively with screenings of Black Christmas. Now, we've all got the chance to see it for ourselves and, as one might expect, the studio is playing this one pretty close to the chest, as this is a teaser in the truest sense. But we do get our first look at the return of Emily Blunt, who is once again leading her family through an apocalyptic wasteland filled with monsters.

A Quiet Place 2 teaser arrived in theaters with Black Christmas just a couple of days ago, but fans weren't sure they'd see it after the Tenet teaser failed to make it online. The footage picks up seemingly right after the events of the first movie. We see the Abbott family walking along the safety line that they had laid out with sand in the first movie.

As we saw in the A Quiet Place 2 first look image, they then come to the end of that path and Emily Blunt takes a step onto the path they haven't safely marked yet. They appear to be heading into uncharted territory. Where precisely they're going, and for what reason they're going there, remains to be seen. There is no trace of the monsters in the brief footage, but the dead silence makes it evident that they're still very much a threat.

Fortunately, for those who want to see a little more, we won't have to wait all that long. The studio has revealed that a full trailer will be online on New Year's Day, which will presumably give us a little more in terms of the story. In addition to the trailer, a new poster was released which sees the family journeying on the road into the unknown. There is no tagline or anything, so again, it's hard to extract much from what we're seeing in these initial looks.

John Krasinksi returns to write and direct A Quiet Place 2. Krasinski not only starred in the first movie, but he directed and co-wrote the screenplay as well. A Quiet Place was written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, who returned in a limited capacity for the sequel as they wanted to focus on more original projects. Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds both return as the younger members of the family, and we can also see the baby is along for the ride as well. New cast members include Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou, but details on their respective roles are being kept under wraps for now.

A Quiet Place proved to be one of the biggest surprise hits of 2018. After earning rave reviews, the movie went on to earn $340 million at the global box office, working from a relatively small budget of just $17 million. As such, the studio was eager to get a sequel going as quickly as possible. A Quiet Place 2 is set to hit theaters on March 20, 2020, from Paramount Pictures. Be sure to check out the teaser for yourself, and be on the lookout for the full trailer on January 1.
