A Quiet Place is the quintessential theater flick. The scoreless opening scene, during which the only sounds were the ambient sounds of the setting, forced audiences into silence along with the film's protagonists, as well as making it rather difficult for us to slurp on our slushies and munch our popcorn. Though the sequel, A Quiet Place Part II, turned up the volume a bit, it was still just as nerve-racking as its predecessor.

Recently it was announced that there would be another installment in the A Quiet Place franchise, which is being filmed under the title A Quiet Place: Day One. As the title suggests, the film will explore the origins of the alien invasion, which serves as the previous movies' premise. This concept will undoubtedly spark a lot of speculation from moviegoers. The original two films raise quite a few questions, and the world of the franchise is full of opportunities for potential storylines.

Here's what we hope to see in A Quiet Place: Day One.

The events of the original A Quiet Place take place a while after the alien invasion has already unfolded and essentially spends its entire runtime focusing on a single family, the Abbotts. At the beginning of A Quiet Part II, we see the first film's protagonists fleeing a Little League game, the newly arrived alien invaders hot on their tails. Throughout the film, audiences learn that though the invasion has taken a considerable toll on the world's population, there are still quite a few survivors left. Additionally, several scenes in the two films hinted at the other areas of the globe where the aliens landed.

Aside from the relatively small area of New England in which the A Quiet Place franchise is set, audiences haven't seen how the aliens have affected the world. In this prequel film, particularly if it focuses on the first day of the invasion, we can hope to get a glimpse at the global implications of this extraterrestrial threat. Though their unique threat necessitates silence, making mass-scale communication difficult, it would be fascinating to see how different nations attempted to contain the threat in its infancy.

There are certainly many reasons to be interested in the plight of the Abbotts, but this prequel flick could give us a different set of protagonists. If it has a global scope, the possibilities for who will stand at the center of the film are endless. For example, one could easily imagine A Quiet Place: Day One taking place at some sort of communal living space, perhaps a Buddhist temple tucked away in the mountains of Nepal, with inhabitants that have taken a vow of silence, therefore making the alien's hunting a whole lot more difficult.

In A Quiet Place Part II, the Abbotts quickly learn that other survivors cannot always be trusted. However, no human threat could ever be quite as terrifying as the monsters who drove the world into silence. Their incredible speed and strength keep them largely unseen for the bulk of the first movies. Additionally, we know they are sightless, but they make up for that fact with their incredible hearing. However, their auditory abilities make them susceptible to loud noises, which seems to be their only glaring weakness (aside from Emily Blunt's shotgun).

The director of the first two films, John Krasinski, has explained that they are definitely extraterrestrial. He also suggests that they might have come to Earth after having fled their home planet. In A Quiet Place: Day One, audiences can hope to see the aliens explored further. We're certainly wondering what the home planet that birthed a sightless species looks like. There's also the question of their breeding habits. If they're not reproducing, the threat will eventually take care of itself.

We know that they sometimes feed on other animals, but why, aside from the obvious fact of our outsized contribution to global clamor, are they so intensely focused on killing human beings? Though a human element is essential to the dramatic framework of the franchise, we definitely want to learn more about these aliens.

Unfortunately, fans of the franchise will have to wait patiently (and quietly) for A Quiet Place: Day One to be released. Recently, Paramount announced that the film won't come out until 2024, so you shouldn't hold your breath. Nevertheless, the first two films were incredibly popular, so audiences everywhere will continue to concoct theories about the alien invaders.

Hopefully, the new movie will live up to the expectation set by its predecessors, and we will get to see a new and exciting story unfold in this universe.
