Bradley Cooper is in talks to make his directorial debut with the long-planned A Star Is Born remake for Warner Bros. The film originally had Beyoncé Knowles attached to star, with Clint Eastwood directing. Though Clint Eastwood is no longer involved with the project, the hope is that Beyoncé Knowles will return, and Bradley Cooper will co-star alongside her.

Beyoncé Knowles is wanted to take the lead as a young woman whose dreams of stardom are helped along by a former Hollywood icon (Bradley Cooper) whose better days are behind him. Bradley Cooper was originally interested in the role when Clint Eastwood was attached to the project. The actor is set to take a pass at the screenplay with writer Will Fetters, who penned the most recent draft. He will dive into the project whole heartedly once he wraps his Broadway role in The Elephant Man, which he is currently performing in London.

Bradley Cooper will produce the movie through his Warner Bros. based company 22 Green, which he shares with The Hangover director Todd Phillips. Jon Peters, Billy Gerber and Basil Iwanyk will also serve as producers. This will be the fourth time A Star Is Born has been turned into a feature film starting with the 1937 version directed by William Wellman and starring Fredrick March and Janet Gaynor. Warner Bros. remade the movie in 1954 with director George Cukor and stars Judy Garland and James Mason. It was last remade in 1976 with director Frank Pierson and stars Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand.
