Aaron Eckhart, Toni Collette, and Maria Bello have all signed on to star in the untitled drama for Alan Ball.

The film marks the feature directorial debut of Alan, the creator and writer of HBO's Six Feet Under; he directed six episodes of the show. Variety notes he got his inspiration for writing the film from the Alicia Erian novel, Towelhead; the film tells the story of Jasira, who struggles with identity and sexual issues as the daughter of a Lebanese-American father and an American mother in Texas during the Gulf War. Newcomer Summer Bishil has been cast to play the young girl.

Shooting for the film begins mid-September in Los Angeles; there's no confirmed release date as of yet.
