Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has signed on for a role in the upcoming drama Fathers and Daughters, which already has Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried attached.

The story is set in two different time periods, 25 years apart, in New York City. Russell Crowe plays a famous novelist who is struggling to raise his five-year-old daughter while battling with his own mental illness. Amanda Seyfried is playing the adult daughter in present-day Manhattan, who is still coming to grips with her troubled childhood.

No character details were given for Aaron Paul's character, although it is possible that he may play the daughter's love interest, which would be fitting since he played Amanda Seyfried's love interest on the HBO TV series Big Love.

Gabriele Muccino is directing from a screenplay by Brad Desch, which was featured on the Black List in 2012. Craig J. Flores, Nicolas Chartier and Sherryl Clark are producing. No production schedule was given.

Aaron Paul will next be seen in DreamWorks' Need for Speed, and he is currently shooting Exodus for director Ridley Scott.
