Aaron Taylor-Johnson first played a Marvel Comics character in Avengers: Age of Ultron, essaying the role of Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver. He is now heading to portray Kraven The Hunter in the titular anti-hero movie. And way before these two, he ventured into the genre via the 2010 film, Kick-Ass. The actor is no longer new to the superhero ventures, but it turns out there was one instance where he refused to don another costume.

In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor revealed that he turned down a role in David Leitch’s Deadpool 2. In the interview, Taylor-Johnson discussed his experience on the sets of his latest film, Bullet Train, and his relationship with Leitch, who happens to be Bullet Train’s director. The actor replied,

Well, I don’t think it’s autopilot by any means, so I do believe in a bit of fate and luck. I feel fortunate and lucky that we were able to make this movie during a pandemic. I’ve always wanted to work with Brad Pitt. I’ve always wanted to make a movie on a Los Angeles soundstage. This was yet another movie I fought for. This was one of those hot scripts around town, and David Leitch actually asked me to be in Deadpool 2 ages ago. So I met him, but I didn’t do that.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson clarified that he had earlier met Leitch for a role in Deadpool 2, which he declined, which probably paved a path for him to approach Leitch for the role in this movie. Bullet Train is now in theaters and has received mixed reviews from critics.

Who Could Aaron Taylor-Johnson have Played in Deadpool 2?

In the interview, Aaron Taylor-Johnson didn’t reveal what role he was offered in Deadpool 2. From the cast of Deadpool 2, it’s possible that Taylor-Johnson was offered a brief part, probably among the members of Wade’s X-Force. In the film, Wade Wilson forms a team of superheroes to take down Cable and stop him from murdering Firefist.

Wade’s X-Force includes Domino, Zeitgeist, Shatterstar, Bedlam, Vanisher, and Peter. Interestingly, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s co-star Brad Pitt made a brief cameo as Vanisher in Deadpool 2. Aaron could have played Shatterstar or Zeitgeist in the film, which probably seems like a reason for the actor to decline the role. It doesn’t seem that Taylor-Johnson was offered Cable, as that role directly went to Josh Brolin after Leitch considered Brad Pitt for the role. Moreover, there is a very low possibility that Kraven The Hunter actor would have passed on such a crucial role of the lead antagonist.

Co-incidentally, Leitch also cast Ryan Reynolds in Bullet Train in a cameo appearance, making his previous idea of having Reynolds and Taylor-Johnson in the same film come true. And with Brad Pitt also in the mix, Leitch got his Deadpool 2 reunion in this action adventure.

Aaron-Taylor Johnson’s next Kraven The Hunter is set to release on January 13, 2023. The film is set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and will be the franchise’s fourth installment.
