There are likely still many who have doubts about the upcoming RoboCop remake, starring Joel Kinnaman as Detroit cop Alex Murphy. Actress Abbie Cornish, who plays Alex's wife Ellen, recently praised director José Padilha's work, and believes the movie will become a "classic."

"It's gonna be a massively kick-ass film. I actually have a voicemail message from José Padilha, the director. He says in the message, 'I don't think we've got a great movie. I think we've got a classic.' It's pretty amazing. I was five when the movie came out, but I remember it like it was yesterday. I grew up with brothers, so we would replay that VHS over and over again. I think people are going to get a lot more than what they think they're going to the cinema for. It's not only entertaining, but it's got heart, and it's going to be a classic."

The story, written by Joshua Zetumer, takes place in the year 2028, where OmniCorp is at the forefront of robotic technology. When Alex Murphy becomes critically injured in the line of duty, this corporation turns this Detroit peace officer into RoboCop. Since the release is still nearly a year away, it will likely be quite awhile until we get to see the first footage. Until then, we'll just have to take Abbie Cornish at her word.
