Firoozeh Dumas is having her popular novel Funny in Farsi: A Memoir of Growing Up Iranian in America adapted into a new ABC sitcom. According to Variety, Nastaran Dibai and Jeffrey Hodes will produce the show for the network, and they are currently seeking a director.

The show will revolve around Dumas' upbringing as an Iranian immigrant in 1970s Newport Beach. Dibai and Hodes will write the pilot script. There is no word on who will be cast as Dumas.

The pilot does not have a start date at this time.
