Michael Grossman has been signed on to direct the two-hour episode that will serve as the pilot for ABC's Grey's Anatomy spinoff.

The episode, titled "My Favorite Mistake," marks Grossman's second visit to the Grey's Anatomy set in the past year. He directed the show's 13th episode of the season, Great Expectations.

Grossman's other credits range from episodes of Charmed and One Tree Hill to sci-fi series including Star Trek: Enterprise, Angel, The Invisible Man and Dresden Files.

"My Favorite Mistake" will serve as Grossman's broadcast-network pilot directing debut.

The episode whose plot remains shrouded in secrecy, will set up the possibility of Dr. Addison Shepherd (Kate Walsh) leaving Seattle Grace Hospital. It will also introduce Hector Elizondo (Chicago Hope) as Mr. Torres, father of Dr. Torres (Sara Ramirez).
