The British comedy series Absolutely Fabulous is making plans to invade theaters, with series creator/star Jennifer Saunders writing the screenplay. Jennifer Saunders plans to start work on the script after she wraps on the London play Viva Forever. Here's what BBC Films' Christine Langan had to say about the possibility of working with Jennifer Saunders.

"I think she's a genius. I can't imagine anything more exciting than working with her."

The series followed the wild behavior of Edina (Jennifer Saunders), a PR expert, and Patsy (Joanna Lumley), a magazine editor. It is said the movie, tentatively titled Ab Fab: The Movie, will begin with Edina and Patsy waking up, hung over, on a yacht in the middle of the ocean, with no cell phone signal to call for help. It doesn't seem that BBC Films has made a deal with Jennifer Saunders for the movie yet.

BBC America has produced three new Absolutely Fabulous TV specials, which will start airing this Christmas in the U.K. The Absolutely Fabulous series aired on BBC from 1992 until 1995. The show was revived in 2001 and ran until 2003.
