According to Entertainment Weekly and Collider, Director Adam McKay may be directing the adaptation of Garth Ennis's comic book series The Boys.

The Boys takes place in today's world where a bunch of people have superpowers. The Boys is the name of a super-powered CIA squad whose main "job is to keep watch on the superheroes, and, if necessary, intimidate or kill them."

Entertainment Weekly claims that their sources are telling them that McKay would make this "extremely violent superhero flick" for Sony Pictures. Collider initially reported this news yesterday, and sources very close to the project are confirming it today. Sony isn't returning calls on this at present.

McKay is best known for such films as Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers.
