Adam Sandler has been doing comedy films for over three decades now, and the actor reflects on his debut film titled Going Overboard that was released almost 34 years ago. The former Saturday Night Live cast member filmed for his first movie when he was only 22 years old. The film directed by Valerie Breiman, where Sandler portrayed the role of Shecky Moskowitz, was released in 1989.

Aside from Sandler, the film also starred Valerie Breiman, Billy Zane and Peter Berg. The film also featured big actors including Burt Young, Allen Covert, Terry Moore, Milton Berle and Billy Bob Thornton who had small roles in the film. Going Overboard was about an inexperienced stand-up comedian who got a job on a cruise ship. When asked about the film, the actor jokingly said to ET,

"That was probably the last time I was excited about the shirt coming off.”

While the film served as the actor’s debut, it also paved the way for one of his dreams to come true. The actor was so happy that he got to meet Milton Berle while filming. He said,

"I got to meet Milton Berle during that movie, and it was that was a dream come true."

On a serious note, the actor confessed that the film saw his real life struggles in trying to make it in Hollywood. He was really excited about starring in the film. The actor fondly recalled,

"That's what I was trying to do, become an actor and comedian. And all of a sudden I was in a movie! I was playing a comedian, and I didn't care about too much else in the world. I was just excited about going after it."
