A&E could be in the business of scripted drama once again. According to Variety, the network handed out a pilot order for a series entitled The Quickening, which has Rahda Mitchell attached to star.

The pilot, written by Nip/Tuck executive producer Jennifer Salt, centers on Mitchell's character, an LAPD detective who tries to balance work while coping with bipolar disorder. While she excels as a detective, she can't do so while taking medication to curb her disorder and must decide between her job and trying to beat the bipolar disorder.

No production schedule or further casting was announced for the pilot.
