Born Alice Faye Williams in January of 1947, Afeni Shakur Davis lead quite a full life before becoming world renown as the mother of Tupac Shakur. She was an American music businesswoman, philanthropist, political activist and Black Panther. She also once acted as her own criminal defense attorney after being accused of taking part in numerous bombings as a member of the Black Panthers.

Earlier this year, the Tupac biopic All Eyez on Me went into production. The movie will star The Walking Dead's Danai Gurira as Afeni Shakur Davis. Benny Boom is directing with Demetrius Shipp Jr. playing the late rapper. Shooting on the movie needed to get started by the end of 2015, or else production company Morgan Creek would have lost Tupac Shakur's music rights, which would have reverted back to his mother. Principal photography got started at the end of December, with Afeni Shakur herself on board as an executive producer. The movie will depict Afeni Shakur as a political activist and an active member of the Black Panther party, who raised her son to be an avid reader and a political mind that influenced his rap music.
