A-listers Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum will unite for Universal Pictures in a fact-based drama ripped straight from recent headlines concerning the Afghanistan evacuation. The currently untitled project was pitched by The Adjustment Bureau's George Nolfi, with Nolfi inspired by the real-life events surrounding the turbulent evacuation of Afghanistan earlier this year. Nolfi will direct the project, and has thus far assembled Hardy and Tatum to lead the movie, with an as-yet-unnamed third actor to be revealed.

The movie will be "based on recently reported true stories," and focus on "three former special forces team members who jump back into the fray alongside their Afghan counterparts, to rescue families and allies left behind amid the rapid fall of Afghanistan last August." This brief description sounds like the perfect project for Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum to team-up on, with both actors having demonstrated their affinity for drama and action on many critically-acclaimed occasions. Tatum and Hardy will also produce the movie alongside Jules Daly, as well as Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan of Free Association with Nolfi on board as an executive producer.

With the movie set to follow a lead trio, another actor is no doubt now being sought after to join the likes of Hardy and Tatum. While no names have yet been touted, with Hardy and Tatum now on board, the currently mysterious third member will likely be another actor with a talent for action-driven fare. So, who do you think would be best suited to join them on this fact-based mission?

Both Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum have several other projects currently in the pipeline, with Hardy coming off the back of the hugely successful comic book movie sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Before joining forces with Tatum, Hardy will work under the direction of The Raid's Gareth Evans for the Netflix action outing, Havoc. The movie picks up after a drug deal gone wrong, when a bruised detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician's estranged son, while unravelling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city. Tom Hardy is of course on board to star as the main character, the downtrodden "bruised detective."

Hardy will be joined on this action-packed adventure by Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker and star of Justified and The Mandalorian, Timothy Olyphant. Making up the rest of the supporting cast are Justin Cornwell, Jessie Mei Li, Yeo Yann Yann, Quelin Sepulveda, Luis Guzmán, Sunny Pang, and Michelle Waterson.

Channing Tatum meanwhile will co-direct the upcoming comedy Dog, alongside Reid Carolin, in which he will also star as Army Ranger Briggs who, along with his Belgian Malinois companion Lulu, race down the Pacific Coast in time to catch their best friend's and handler's funeral. Dog is set to be released in the United States on February 18, 2022 by United Artists Releasing. The actor, who has seen a huge rise in popularity following his starring role in the comedy 21 Jump Street back in 2012, will continue to show-off his comedic chops, appearing opposite Sandra Bullock in The Lost City, which finds Bullock as a reclusive romance novelist on a book tour with her cover model, with the mismatched pair getting swept up in a kidnapping attempt that lands them both in a cutthroat jungle adventure.
