After Ever Happy is getting closer. The trailer for the latest installment in the After franchise, the movies based on the After series by Anna Todd, left fans speechless. The film is based on the last book in the After series, showing the end of Tessa and Hardin's story that began in 2019 and moved a generation. That means that in After Ever Happy, Hardin and Tessa will face the obstacles of the past and their own demons to find out if they are a good fit together or if they’re destined to be apart.
In After Ever Happy, Tessa is no longer the sweet girl she was when she met Hardin. Hardin Goes to a Dark Place
After Ever Happy trailer shows us images of Hardin's reaction after discovering the truth about his origin. His reaction is self-destructive. Hardin reverts to his old ways and sets the world on fire to vent his anger and pain… literally. Hardin is not only drinking and destroying everything in his path, but he also burns the poem he wrote to Tessa as an apology.
That poem is very important to Tessa. It was the first thing it showed the real Hardin, no bets or half-truths involved. Hardin opened his heart to her in that poem, and she could see him for real, with all the thorns, the blemishes, and the wounds. And now, Hardin is burning it, and to Tessa, it feels like she's burning everything they are.
Once the moment passes and Hardin stops seeing everything red, he regrets his attitude and dragging Tessa to that dark place that suffocates him. Meanwhile, Tessa tries to fight for him, for them, but she doesn't know how long she can last before losing herself in the middle. So she makes the decision to walk away from Hardin.
It’s a situation where she confronts Hardin since he considers that she is running away. And he's partly right that Tessa can't run away from herself, no matter how hard she tries. But Tessa needs to get away from him because what is happening with them is slowly destroying her. It takes a lot of courage to take distance when something hurts.
A New World of Possibilities for Tessa and Hardin
Distance brings perspective for both Tessa and Hardin. The After Ever Happy trailer shows how she begins to carve out a future far from everything and everyone she knows, a future she never thought she would have.
Meanwhile, Hardin puts things into perspective and hears for the first time about his mother and the story of his past. Also, he accepts Tessa's decision to walk away from him. Things start to lighten up for the two of them. They grow and mature separately, but the distance between them never stops hurting.
Suddenly, Tessa and Hardin meet again, and it's as if the distance never existed. Everything they felt for each other is still there, alive and burning. So everything seems to fall into place for them again, only better. Now, both are more mature and more aware of themselves, what they want, and what they feel. Where before there seemed to be no future together, now there is a world of possibilities.
Tessa Discovers After
The bright future together that Tessa and Hardin began to envision is shattered once again. Tessa finds the book that Hardin wrote. After. It’s a book about them. It's their love story. But Tessa feels conflicted about it. What they both experienced was tremendously real, raw, intense, and intimate. She doesn’t like that strangers from all over the world can see their mistakes and successes so clearly, that they can see them.
Tessa feels exposed, like she were naked in the midst of strangers against her will. On the other hand, Hardin thinks their story is beautiful, ugly bits included because it's a huge love letter from a wounded and broken man who found someone worth fighting for.
As can be glimpsed in the After Ever Happy trailer, the raw moments of passion and love continue to bring Tessa and Hardin together, even as they seem further apart. The only unknown is if their love will be able to win the game over everything that separates them.
