Sony Pictures is developing Dodge & Twist, a re-imagining of Oliver Twist created by Ahmet Zappa.

The film is set 20 years after Charles Dickens' classic novel, and centers on the iconic title character and his rival the Artful Dodger, who are now on opposite sides of the law. The duo get entangled in a scheme to steal the Crown Jewels.

Cole Haddon (NBC's Dracula) is writing the script with Ahmet Zappa and Matthew Tolmach producing. Ahmet Zappa last produced The Odd Life of Timothy Green for Disney, which was also based on his own idea. He is also producing a big screen adaptation of the classic Jim Henson HBO series Fraggle Rock: The Movie.

The project would be the second film in development revolving around the classic tale Oliver Twist. CBS Films picked up rights to Olivia Twisted, which is described as a modern version of the story with a female lead character.

No production schedule has been released.
