Albert Brooks is in negotiations to board a currently untitled animated pets project that Universal and Illumination Entertainment's are putting together. Hannibal Buress, Lake Bell, Bobby Moynihan and Ellie Kemper will also voice roles in the comedy adventure.

Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet and Kevin Hart are making their animated debuts in the project, which tells the story of what a group of pets in a Manhattan apartment do while their owners are at work. The building's canine leader, Max (Louis C.K.), finds his pampered life interrupted when his owner brings home Duke (Eric Stonestreet), a slob that is lacking in personality. The duo finds themselves out on the streets of New York, where they have to set aside their differences to take on a bunny named Snowball (Kevin Hart). The bunny has plans to build an army of abandoned pets that are out to turn the tables on humanity.

Bobby Moynihan will play a tough Pug named Mel, who flirts with a sarcastic cat named Chloe (Lake Bell). Ellie Kemper will voice the pet owner, with Albert Brooks possible portraying a pet named Tiberius. Hannibal Buress' roles is unknown at the point.

No production schedule has been released.
