According to Variety, writing and producing team Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci is producing 2:22, a script by tyro Todd Stein, for DreamWorks. The project, previously set up at Gold Circle, concerns a tortured artist to whom strange things start occurring at the same place and time every day.

Kurtzman and Orci will produce via their DreamWorks-based shingle, which was set up at the studio earlier this year. Kurtzman said he was struck by Stein's script because "we love the idea of taking a high-concept idea and turning into a female-driven thriller."

That's something the team has been doing regularly on ABC's "Alias," a show they've been writing and producing since 2001.

Although "2:22" is the first project Kurtzman-Orci have acquired since landing at DreamWorks, they're in partnership with the studio on several high-profile projects as writers, such as this summer's The Island, directed by Michael Bay and starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson, as well as "Transformers," which will also be directed by Bay.

The pair also wrote all the Mission: Impossible pics, including the third installment, now in pre-production at Paramount.
