Alex Reymundo has signed a deal with Showtime to develop and star in the new comedy, Hick-Spanic; he'll also perform a stand-up special and host the upcoming comedy specials The Latin Divas of Comedy and Payaso Comedy Slam.

Hick-Spanic is loosely based on Reymundo's life and stand-up routine; it centers on a guy of Mexican decent (Reymundo) and his blond-haired, blue-eyed hillbilly wife who live in a small Kentucky town with their two children, The Hollywood Reporter says. He's surrounded by the sides of the family who are constantly battling about who married up.

Michael Glouberman is writing the script and will serve as executive producer with Reymundo. No word on an airdate for Hick-Spanic.
