Jeopardy! fans will be able to delve into the life of host Alex Trebek outside of the popular game show this summer with the release of the television star's new memoir. Called The Answer Is... : Reflections on My Life, the book is scheduled to be released by Simon & Schuster on July 21. "For over three decades, Trebek had resisted countless appeals to write a book about his life. Yet he was moved so much by all the goodwill, he felt compelled to finally share his story," the publisher said of the memoir. It would appear that now Trebek really knows just how much he is loved by his fans, and finally feels that it's time to introduce them to the real him.

"I want people to know a little more about the person they have been cheering on for the past year," Trebek writes in the book, bringing fans behind the scenes of Jeopardy and into the host's personal life. From marriage and parenthood to his education and spirituality, Trebek opens up in the memoir on a variety of topics. His Jeopardy work will be well-explored as well, with Trebek touching on why he shaved his signature mustache and Will Ferrell's impersonations of him on Saturday Night Live. Of course, each title chapter will be in the form of a question, and several never-before-seen photos of Trebek will also be included.

A legend of the small screen, Trebek has been hosting Jeopardy since the classic game show was revived in 1984. In the fall of 2018, he had signed a new contract to keep him as the host of the series for several more years, guaranteeing his spot on the program until at least 2022. It would be just a matter of months later when Trebek learned of his pancreatic cancer. At the time, Trebek said he would continue to fight for his health for as long as possible, joking that he was contracted to do so for three more years. Ever since, countless fans have offered their support to Trebek, with one Jeopardy contestant even using their Final Jeopardy answer to personally write to him, "We love you Alex!"

Just over a year ago, Trebek had publicly revealed he'd been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, shocking Jeopardy viewers all across the world. Even with this grim diagnosis, Trebek insisted on remaining the host of the show, continuing to appear on every episode of Jeopardy while going through chemotherapy treatments. Acknowledging the low survival rate, Trebek also remains optimistic about prolonging his survival for as long as possible. Last month, Trebek provided a one-year update on his condition, noting he'd endured many "moments of great pain" but continues to fight on behalf of his wife, family, fans, and his faith.

The Answer Is ... : Reflections on My Life by Jeopardy Host Alex Trebek will be released by Simon & Schuster on July 21. As of now, production on new episodes of Jeopardy has been delayed, so this will give Trebek fans something else to look forward to. In the meantime, it will be nice for Trebek to get some rest and extra time with his family during this hiatus from filming Jeopardy. This news comes to us from The Hollywood Reporter.
