True Blood's Alexander Skarsgård is in negotiations to join the thriller The East, starring opposite Brit Marling, who co-wrote the project with Zal Batmanglij, who is directing.

The story revolves around a female agent who infiltrates an eco-terrorist group, who call themselves The East.

In the film, Alexander Skarsgård would play the leader of the group who seeks revenge against unethical corporations.

Production is being eyed for a Nashville shoot in October and November.
