In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Alexandra Daddario will be starring in Fox 2000's Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.

Daddario has been in such film as The Squid and the Whale and The Hottest State.

The actress joins a cast that features Logan Lerman and Brandon T. Jackson. The film is a big budget, fantasy-adventure that is being directed by Chris Columbus.

The film, which is steeped in Greek mythology, follows Poseidon's half-human son, Percy. He is traveling across modern America to stop a war among the gods. Daddario will play the role of Athena's 18-year-old daughter, Annabeth.

Columbus and writer Craig Titley have adapted the script from Rick Riordan's bestselling children's novel.

The "Lightning Thief" is the first of five novels from Rick Roirdan that gives readers the adventures of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The fifth and final one, "The Last Olympian," will be coming to stores in May.
