Alfred Hitchcock's 1927 silent film The Lodger is getting remade by Sony Pictures. According to Variety, David Ondaatje will write, direct and produce this new version, hopefully with sound this time.

The Lodger revolves around a Jack the Ripper-style slasher. Ondaatje will also be using the novel of the same name, written by Marie Belloc Lowndes, for story purposes. The film will be set in present day Los Angeles and be based on a copycat killer.

This will be Ondaatje's directorial debut. The film doesn't have a set start date at this time.
