Alicia Keys and her Big Pita, Little Pita production partner Jeff Robinson have bought the rights to Catfish. According to Variety, newcomer Charisse Waugh has written the script.

The plot revolves around the true story of a strong-willed black woman who leads the biggest strike in U.S. history. The screenplay was one of thirty-two projects unveiled at this year's Tribeca Film Festival.

Keys stated, "When we created Big Pita, Little Pita we envisioned it as a place to champion voices you don't hear every day. Charisse has written a deeply moving script."

The film does not have a set start date.
