Anyone worried Alien 5 might take Prometheus 2 off course shouldn't be. The upcoming Xenomorph thriller from Neill Blomkamp will actually help tell the story of Prometheus 2 in the long run, as the director promises not to 'step on' Ridley Scott's toes. It also helps that Scott is producing both entries in the long running sci-fi horror franchise. Neill Blomkamp recently chatted with Empire, where he discussed how welcoming Ridley Scott was to the whole project. He also revealed more about the impending title reveal, and that he has changed his Alien so that it will fall in line with what is being planned for Prometheus 2:

"I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping 'Prometheus' a little bit. One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make."

Neill Blomkamp has made it clear that his film will be a follow-up to Alien and Aliens, but he promises he is not wiping Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection off the map. He already has a title for his sequel, and it won't be Alien 5. He plans to reveal the title soon, but says that it gives the whole movie away.

"I sent what I wanted as the title to Ridley. It's kinda quite bold, and he was like, 'I really like that.' So I'm gonna test it, I don't think it's gonna work, though. I have my own idea but it gives away too much if I say the title. But in the event that it doesn't work, I'm dead in the water..."

Terri Tatchell, who is not only a frequent collaborator with Neill Blomkamp but also happens to be his wife, revealed why her husband is taking on the project. In fact, she encouraged him to finally take the plunge and make the movie a reality. She explains:

"He's hemming and hawing, going back-and-forth. Finally I said, 'Look, look at what you make me drink my orange juice out of every morning,' and I pulled out of the cupboard, we have these set of glasses that have these brutal scenes from the movies. I said, 'You make your daughter drink out of these cups! This is a sign.'"

Neill Blomkamp continues:

"No bullsh*t, that made me realize there is a massive portion of my brain taken up by the xenomorph,. I was like, 'Hmm, that's a valid point.'"

While it hasn't been officially confirmed by 20th Century Fox, it is believed that Ridley Scott will return to direct Prometheus 2 with Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender returning to star. In previous interviews, the director has stated that the sequel will feature a return to the homeworld of the sinister Engineers of both the alien species and humanity. The movie is currently scheduled for release on March 4, 2016, though it isn't known when filming will begin. If that date is to stay in place, it should be soon. Alien 5 is eyeing a 2017 release, with Aliens stars Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn expected to return as Ripley and Hicks. Fox has not yet given the sequel a confirmed release date. But it sounds like Ridley Scott and Neill Blomkamp will be working together to make their movies tie into each other.
