James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) has signed on to direct Alien Sleeper Cell for Joe Gatta and Jovi Sighvatsson's new company ScanBox Studios.

While specific plot details are being kept under wraps, the story has been compared to The Bourne Identity and the FX series The Americans, set within an alien invasion scenario. Morgan Davis Foehl, who wrote Michael Mann's upcoming cyber-thriller Blackhat, is penning the screenplay.

Joe Gatta and Jovi Sighvatsson are producing alongside Adrian Askarieh's Prime Universe Films, which has the Hitman: Agent 47 reboot coming out next year. Felipe Linz came up with the original concept and is serving as an executive producer. It isn't known when production will get under way.

After serving as First Assistant Director for Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski on The Matrix trilogy, James McTeigue made his directorial debut with V for Vendetta. His other directorial credits include Ninja Assassin and The Raven, and he is also attached to direct the Bloodsport remake, Ness/Capone and Survivor.
