A sequel to M3GAN seems inevitable after the success of the film. Upon its release in theaters, the killer doll movie performed much better than what had been projected, earning back its budget in theaters almost instantly. High praise from genre fans and professional critics have made the success even sweeter, and considering the accomplishments, it seems more likely than not that sequels will be made soon enough.

Speaking about the film in a new chat with Variety, star Allison Williams addressed the movie's sequel possibilities. She details how, as a performer, she was already thinking about where the story could go in a potential sequel.

"While you’re making it, you can’t help but wonder, 'If we got to make more, what would they be?' So much of what we do is in service of the people who watch it. So I think the idea of people wanting more and being able to deliver is so wonderful."

Williams doesn't have any specific ideas to share, but she makes it clear she'd be more than happy to return if the studio does in fact move forward with M3GAN 2.

"I just feel so grateful that it all has gone the way that it has, from the trailer coming out and people really embracing her, people going out and supporting the movie and seeing it and going back with their friends. The fact that they want more is just so great. It’s gonna be really fun if we get to work on it, to figure out how we can zig and zag that around the expectations of what it would be and try to keep things surprising while also delivering on the reasons that people want more in the first place."

Fans have been having some fun online discussing what the sequel to M3GAN would be titled. Suggestions have been put forth that further play on the number in the title, such as MEG4N and M3GAN 2.0. Williams can't say at this time what the movie would really be called, should the sequel end up moving forward, though there was one joke title that seems to stand out as her favorite.

"We have written ourselves into a slight corner for having two failed M3GANs ahead of that [laughs]. I don’t have an answer for you, but I did see one Twitter thread that just listed all the sequels, doing different things with the numbers, and it ended with M3GAN: Hobbs & Shaw. It made me laugh so hard. The idea that it becomes part of the Fast and Furious franchise tickles me to no end."

M3GAN is playing in movie theaters. There have been reports of a sequel getting put into development, but no official announcements have been made at this time.
