According to The Hollywood Reporter, Along came two new releases last week to dethrone New Line Home Entertainment's Oscar-sweeping powerhouse Lord of the Rings: Return of the King on the video rental charts. But the final installment of the "LOTR" trilogy lost little of its power, dropping a scant 7% from the previous week and actually moving up a notch from No. 4 to No. 3 in Video Store Magazine's rental rankings.

Entering the ring last week with "LOTR" were two very different movies. Warner Home Video's Academy Award-winning, Clint Eastwood-directed drama Mystic River came in at No. 1 on the rental chart, while Universal Studios Home Video's Ben Stiller-Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy Along Came Polly ranked second.

"Polly" and "River" took the No. 1 and No. 2 slots, respectively, on Nielsen VideoScan's First Alert DVD sales chart, followed by "King." They pushed last week's No. 2, Blockbuster's DEJ Prods.-Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment's "Monster," down to the fourth slot.
