Three Stooges: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment is releasing two "Three Stooges" compilations as its first foray into what it calls ChromaChoice, a format that allows the user to toggle back and forth -- using the angle button on the DVD remote -- between colorized and black-and-white versions of older films within seconds.

"The Three Stooges: Goofs on the Loose" and "The Three Stooges: Stooged and Confoosed" debut August 10th.

CTHE and other industry observers believe this to be the first case where such an option has been offered. Colorizing was a hot button several years ago, with purists decrying its use on classic films. Much of the early colorizing also was sloppy and inauthentic looking.
