April Fools Day was no joke for a few chipmunks who dominated home video last week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alvin and the Chipmunks landed on top of the DVD sales charts for the week ending April 6. Alvin, Simon and Theodore beat out fellow newcomer Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street by a considerable margin.

Alvin and the Chipmunks also took the top spot in the rental charts as well, taking in an estimated $8.7 million with Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street taking second again with an estimated $8.1 million in rental revenue.

No other new release managed to crack the top 10 charts in either sales or rentals. Last week's top seller and rental, I Am Legend fell to the third spot on both charts.

Alvin and the Chipmunks went 3 for 3 by taking the Blu-Ray sales crown as well. Last week's top BD seller, I Am Legend dropped to second place.
