Bella Thorne is the latest actor to join the 20th Century Fox sequel Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Road Chip. She joins a cast that already includes returning actor Jason Lee along with Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney. Earlier in the year, it was confirmed that Tony Hale will be playing the villain.

Walt Becker is taking the helm on this live-action/CGI follow-up. He is best known for his live-action comedies National Lampoon's Van Wilder, Old Dogs and Wild Hogs. Bella Thorne is playing a charter named Ashley, but no further details were given. It isn't known if she is appearing live in the flesh, or if she is voicing one of the animated animals.

This time out, Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Road Chip revolves around a series of misunderstandings. Chipmunks Alvin, Simon and Theodore believe their manager Dave is going to propose to his new girlfriend. This, they think, will of course lead to them getting dumped by their longtime partner and friend. It isn't known if Ashley is playing Dave's new girlfriend, but that seems unlikely, as the 27 year age gap between 44 year old Jason Lee and the 17 year old actress might be too much to handle in a movie aimed at families.
