These rodents got some mighty big nuts! Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Road Chip is crashing into theaters a little early this Christmas! Alvin, Simon and Theodore are very pleased to now be opening on December 18th, 2015. When asked if it concerned them their Road Chip adventure was opening on the same weekend as a certain other giant mega movie, Alvin simply responded, "Do or do not. There is no try." No one was quite sure what he meant.

"What other giant blockbuster is opening on December 18th?" You're probably asking, only if you live under a rock or on a small desert island without an Internet or phone connection. On this date, Disney and Lucasfilm will be unleashing the first Star Wars sequel in over ten years, with Star Wars: The Force Awakens expected to break every box office record known to man, and may even create ones we haven't even heard of yet. Is this a risky move for 20th Century Fox, who used to own the distribution rights to the Star Wars franchise? Sure! But if Star Wars: The Force Awakens sells out, they'll be sure to pick up any one who can't get in. It's actually a great move.

Through a series of misunderstandings, Alvin, Simon and Theodore come to believe that Dave is going to propose to his new girlfriend in New York City...And dump them. They have three days to get to him and stop the proposal, saving themselves not only from losing Dave but possibly from gaining a terrible stepbrother. Will they be able to pull off such a feat and bring the world's most unique pop group back to international stardom?

Jason Lee returns as Dave, with Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney all returning to voice the iconic Chipmunks. This latest sequel also introduces newcomer Bella Thorne in a live action role. Based on the beloved characters created by Ross Bagdasarian, Walt Becker directs from a screenplay by Adam Sztkiel. Alvin, Simon, Theodore and the beloved characters from a galaxy far, far away won't be alone in theaters on December 18, with Universal Pictures' Sisters also hitting theaters on that day. While this comedy movie does boast an all-star cast including Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, John Leguizamo, James Brolin, Dianne Wiest and WWE Superstar John Cena, it isn't expected to hold a candle to the massive box office numbers that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will pull in. Then again, Sisters only cost $30 million to make, which is certainly far less than its competitors. While we wait for these trio of new releases to hit theaters one week before Christmas, check out the new poster for Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Road Chip, which pokes a little bit of fun at its main competitor.
