Former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes has been placed on a "psychiatric hold," per TMZ. According to the outlet, Bynes was spotted walking near downtown L.A. early on Sunday morning without any clothes on. Reportedly, Bynes personally flagged down a car for assistance and called 911, telling the driver of the automobile that she was "coming down from a psychotic episode." Bynes was transported to a local police station with mental health professionals subsequently placing her on a 5150 psychiatric hold.

Fortunately, Bynes was not physically injured, though she's expected to be hospitalized for at least the next several days. It's noted in the TMZ report that psychiatric holds most often last 72 hours but can be extended when appropriate. Bynes has a history of mental health struggles which could potentially result in a lengthier stay.

It was in March of last year when Bynes left the conservatorship that she'd been under since 2013. At that time, Bynes' mother was granted conservatorship after the former All That star allegedly had an episode where she started a fire in a neighbor's driveway; she was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold. The following year, the conservatorship was made permanent, but a campaign for it to end was launched by some Britney Spears supporters who'd similarly lobbied for the latter to be freed from her own conservatorship. Afterward, Bynes thanked her supporters and teased good things to come.

"In the last several years, I have been working hard to improve my health so that I can live and work independently, and I will continue to prioritize my well-being in this next chapter," Bynes said in a statement at the time. "I am excited about my upcoming endeavors — including my fragrance line — and look forward to sharing more when I can."

Before the convention, Bynes had said in a statement, "I'm really excited to reunite with my cast mates and meet the fans."
