With The Amazing Spider-Man 2 debuting on Deluxe Edition Blu-ray and DVD August 19, Sony Pictures has released three new videos, one of which reveals part of the surprise ending we reported on last month. This alternate ending (Spoiler Warning) shows Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) meeting his father Richard Parker in a cemetery, revealing that he has actually been alive all these years!

In addition, we have two behind-the-scenes featurettes that showcase the makeup process Jamie Foxx had to endure to become Electro, and the major fight sequence between Spider-Man and Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan). Take a look at the videos, then read on for more details about the alternate ending.

Our report from July revealed that, towards the end of the movie, when Peter actually quits being Spider-Man after the death of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), he has a much different motivation to resume his crime-fighting ways. In an earlier version of the script by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, Peter is visited by his father Richard Parker at the graveyard, who has been alive this whole time, watching Peter become Spider-Man from afar. It's Richard who utters the line, "With great power, comes great responsibility," which leads him to becoming Spider-Man again.

It isn't known if more of this alternate ending will be seen on the Deluxe Edition Blu-ray and DVD, but we'll find out next week. Do you think Richard Parker should come back for The Amazing Spider-Man 3? Chime in with your thoughts below.
