According to Home Media Retailing, Amazon.com is hoping to make available a service whereby people would both download and purchase DVDs.

Essentially, the “DVD purchases” would “be streamed by consumers” before they recieve whatever DVD they bought in the mail. Then whatever the charge was to “stream” the film would be subtracted from the cost of the actual physical DVD.

Currently Amazon is talking to such companies as Image Entertainment, Ardustry Home Entertainment and First Look Entertainment.
