Months after the release of Prey on Hulu, star Amber Midthunder continues to draw praise for her performance in the Predator prequel. For this year's Saturn Awards, Midthunder has been named as the recipient of the Breakthrough Performance Award. Previous recipients of this award include Grant Gustin for The Flash, Melissa Benoist for Supergirl, and KJ Apa for Riverdale. The actress shared the news on social media along with a pair of emoji to express her happiness.

Prey is not nominated for any Saturn Awards as it was weeks shy of making the eligibility period. If Midthunder were to be nominated for Prey, she'd be up against Cate Blanchett (Nightmare Alley), Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place Part II), Zoe Kravitz (The Batman), Keke Palmer (Nope), Emma Stone (Cruella), Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once), and Zendaya (Spider-Man: No Way Home).

Prey has also proven to be a critical hit, ranking high as the highest-rated Predator movie at Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 93%. Many fans and critics have labeled the film as the best installment of the franchise since the original. The strong reviews only contributed to the film's high viewership on Hulu, as the movie also set the record for the most watched film premiere on the streaming platform's history. Many were asking why the film couldn't have played in theaters leading fans to wonder just how much the acclaimed movie would have made at the box office if given the opportunity.

There are big things coming for Amber Midthunder following the success of Prey, and fans will have plenty more to look forward to from the rising star. Even so, some fans may be wondering if Prey will get a direct sequel so they can see more of Midthunder in her fan favorite role as Naru. There is currently nothing in the works, but Midthunder suggested she'd be open to returning if the right idea is presented.

"I don't know what the plans are for the future, but I trust whatever decision is made," she said, via EW. "Dan spent so long developing this with 20th Century. Obviously, all that time was used to make a really great thing. I'm sure that nobody would make something again, if it wasn't amazing. So I think whatever happens, I think it will be the right choice."

Dan Trachtenberg directed Prey using a screenplay co-written with Patrick Aison. Along with Midthunder, the film stars Dakota Beavers, Dane DiLiegro, Michelle Thrush, Stormee Kipp, Julian Black Antelope, and Bennett Taylor. John Davis, Jhane Myers, and Marty P. Ewing produced.
