CBS Films has brought on Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor) to direct the action-thriller American Assassin.

We /american-assassin-gets-director-edward-zwick/first reported on this project back in June, when CBS Films set the project up for Edward Zwick to direct from a script he co-wrote with Marshall Herskovitz. It is said Edward Zwick left the project to direct The Great Wall with Henry Cavill. It isn't known if Jeffrey Nachmanoff will direct from Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz's script, or if new writers will be brought in.

American Assassin is adapted from the Vince Flynn novel of the same name. American Assassin is the 11th novel in his series about CIA agent Mitch Rapp, although this book is a prequel, showing how a younger Rapp overcame tragedy and worked his way into the CIA.
