American Gladiators, which originally premiered in 1989, is coming back to TV. According to Variety, NBC has picked up a revised version of the series.

The show, which pitted players like Nitro, Turbo, and Laser against each other, is being updated with new technology and twists. MGM will once again produce the show with Reveille.

NBC Entertainment's executive Vice President of alternative programming, development and specials Craig Plestis stated, "We've been circling around this property for a long time now. It's truly what's not in the TV landscape right now. While everyone's zigging, I'm attracted to doing a zag."

NBC wouldn't confirm how many episodes they are ordering, but at least six are being prepped at this time. The show could air either weekly or nightly depending on its popularity.
