Fox is putting the Idol in iTunes. The TV studio has announced that it is joining up with Apple to bring all of the American Idol contestant performances from this current seventh season to the iTunes digital music store.

You can buy one of the Top 24 semi-finalist's songs for just 99 cents and, starting on March 11, iTunes users can buy full video performances of the Top 12 finalists for $1.99. Starting today, you can also pre-order performances from your favorite contestants, and the song will automatically download the day after the American Idol broadcast.

"We have some truly outstanding talent this year, and by working with Apple and iTunes, we're giving viewers another great way to enjoy America's brightest new stars from Idol," said Simon Fuller, creator of American Idol, Founder and CEO of 19 Entertainment. "I'm sure there will be many memorable performances that viewers will want to relive from this 2008 season."

"We've created a special section on the iTunes Store for Idol fans with an incredible array of music and video performances from television's most popular show," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes. "We think American Idol viewers are going to love the ability to purchase and download Idol performances from iTunes."

American Idol can be seen on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 PM ET on Fox.
