Actor Seann William Scott has revealed that there is now “a great idea” floating around for a further American Pie sequel. Speaking with Comicbook.com, Scott declared that they have a plan for American Pie 5, and that the idea behind it is so good it will even work within these “tough” comedic times.

"I don't know, I just love the character so much. We have to have a great idea, and especially these days, it has to be awesome. You know, comedy is tough, and they have always been tough, but you know, comedies have really changed. But I think, honestly, we have been talking about an idea. I had one and I still have one that we've literally just recently started talking about."

Scott, who has played Steven "Steve" Stifler throughout the main American Pie series, would love to come back for more. Especially if it means seeing a character like Stifler now in his mid-forties, acting the same as he did in his teens, and navigating his way through a changed world.

"It would be so much fun to see, I think, fun, but also really fascinating to see a guy like Stifler in his mid-forties today trying to figure things out. A guy who hasn't really changed that much, but the world has changed, you know, what would his life be like? ... Is there a fun end to a story? I don't know if it'll ever happen."

Starring Scott alongside Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Alyson Hannigan, Natasha Lyonne, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Mena Suvari, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Tara Reid, and Eugene Levy, the first American Pie was released way back in 1999 and centers on five best friends, Jim, Kevin, Oz, Finch, and Stifler, who attend East Great Falls High. In a bid to end their misfortune with women, the four friends try every trick in the book to ensure that they lose their high school graduation.

American Pie saw huge success at the box office, spawning three direct sequels in American Pie 2, American Wedding, and American Reunion, as well as five direct-to-DVD spin-off movies. But, does the series still have a place in this changed world?

Seann William Scott Isn’t Sure There’s an Appetite for American Pie Anymore

This is not the first time that Seann William Scott has addressed the possibility of American Pie 5. Speaking exclusively with MovieWeb, the actor stated his desire to work with the same cast again, but did wonder if there’s still an appetite for American Pie.

"I love those guys so much. And like, obviously, if I was worried about being typecast, I wouldn't have done four of those movies. I just don't know if there's an appetite for that genre of films,” he said. “Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are killing it. They're consistently, every time they put out a movie, it's not only awesome, but they're successful.”

Scott will next be on villain duty in the upcoming action thriller sequel, The Wrath of Becky, which finds Lulu Wilson’s titular avenger once again taking down a fascist organization known as the "Noble Men.” The Wrath of Becky is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 26, 2023.
