American World Pictures has acquired rights to Jump, starring Patrick Swayze in a drama centered on the 1928 murder trial of noted photographer Phillipe Halsman in Austria.
According to Variety, Swayze portrays Halsman's lawyer in the film, directed by Joshua Sinclair (Shaka Zulu trilogy) and written by Ryan James. Sinclair also produced, with Lilly Berger. Ben Silverstone, Martine McCutchenson and Sybil Danning also star.
The story is based on information derived from court transcripts that have been sealed for more than 75 years, and the anti-Semitic atmosphere that quickly resulted in Halsman's wrongful conviction. Halsman later fled to the U.S. during World War II and became the world's most sought after photographer, best known for his portraits of Salvador Dali and Albert Einstein.
American World Pictures is planning to release Jump domestically in the fall.
