We've heard the rumors for a while. And now director Rob Zombie has officially confirmed them to be true. The Devil's Rejects sequel 3 From Hell has begun shooting. The musician turned filmmaker revealed the new title on social media today, along with this message.

"It's all true! Day One shooting Three From Hell! The murder and madness continues. #robzombie #sherimoonzombie #billmoseley #thedevilsrejects"

While most refer to 3 From Hell as Devil's Rejects 2, it's actually the third chapter in the terrifying Firefly Family saga, which initially kicked off with House Of 1000 Corpses way back in 2003. And it's pretty amazing that we're on movie number three in what has become one of the more popular modern day horror slasher franchises. The first movie to introduce Captain Spaulding and his brood was troubled from the get go. It was mostly shot on the Universal Studios lot, where Zombie, making his debut as director, ran into one problem after the next.

This was all tagged with Universal ultimately dropping the movie from release, and it sat in limbo for quite some time. But it was eventually rescued and now we're getting a third thrilling chapter in the blood soaked tale. But what will Spaulding, Baby and Otis be up to this time around?

Sid Haig, Bill Moseley and Sheri Moon Zombie are all back to reprise their roles. And there will be a whole set of clothing designed and based on the movie that you can purchase soon. Other than that? There's not much to go on yet, as Zombie has remained quite secretive about what we can expect.

It's been 13 years since the original movie, though it may not seem like that long of a stretch. The end of The Devil's Rejects didn't quite leave a whole lot of open room for these characters to live and breath again, but Rob Zombie found away. And is always true with just about any horror movie, no matter how supernatural or outwardly human any given bad guy might be, they can always come back.

It is speculated that the Firefly Family actually went to Hell at the end of The Devil's Rejects and that the new title 3 From Hell hints that they've crawled out of Satan's bowels to return and kill some more. If you remember, Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig), Otis (Bill Moseley), and Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie) ended things in true Bonnie and Clyde style by driving directly into a hail of bullets. It will be interesting to see if this sequel takes on a supernatural twist.

It's being reported by various sources that Rob Zombie is negotiating with Saban Films and Lionsgate to bring his sequel to theaters, while also releasing it on VOD, and home video. Now that production is up and running we should be hearing a lot more in the coming days and weeks as to what fate belies the Firefly family. This news was first revealed on Rob Zombie's Instagram.
