Star Wars icon Mark Hamill is set to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on March 8th. It was first announced back in June of 2017, and Hamill admitted on social media to being speechless. The actor is obviously well known for his work on Star Wars, but he's been almost as recognizable for his voice acting work over the years. Fans have wondered for a long time why he hadn't been recognized, along with Carrie Fisher, who had a makeshift star created after her death in late 2016. by fans. Harrison Ford received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame back in 2003.

Mark Hamill will receive the 2,630th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on March 8th in a ceremony in front of the El Capitan theater. Star Wars creator George Lucas will attend the ceremony along with co-star Harrison Ford. The two will help host the ceremony along with Leron Gubler, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies had this to say.

"Star Wars fans will be over the moon that hearing their idol Mark Hamill is going to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We are proud to add this extraordinary actor on our historic Walk of Fame."

Mark Hamill, who is 66-years old, reprised his role as Luke Skywalker in Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi and many praised his portrayal of the aging, conflicted Jedi Master. Disney's Bob Eiger hailed Hamill's performance in the latest Star Wars movie as his best ever last summer, which began the hype machine for the movie. While fans were conflicted about the story of The Last Jedi, Hamill received universal praise for his dark performance.

In addition, it was just announced that Mark Hamill and Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot will be presenters at the 90th Academy Awards on Sunday March 4th, which is just adding to the amazing day that Hamill has had. On the announcement of the Academy Award presenter news, Hamill took to social media to give himself some advice. Mark Hamill, master social media user obviously made the advice humorous. He had this to say.

"Note to self: 1) Talk fast enough so the orchestra doesn't try to play me off. 2) No R2-Me Too jokes. 3) After opening the envelope, don't say La La Land."

All jokes aside, it's been a great few months for Mark Hamill. The Star Wars stuff tends to overshadow a lot of his work, but the actor is often named one of the top people to ever portray the Joker in numerous animated movies and Batman: The Animated Series. As previously noted, Mark Hamill's Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony will be held on Thursday, March 8th at 11:30 AM Pacific Time.
