For about twenty minutes earlier today, lucky Netflix subscribers who just happened to be browsing through their queues discovered that the streaming service had accidentally leaked Season 3 of House of Cards a tad too early. 10 of the 13 new episodes were made available before quickly being pulled down. Netflix was quick to release this statement in regards to the snafu:
"Due to a technical glitch some Frank Underwood fans got a sneak peak. He'll be back on Netflix on Feb 27. #nospoilers."
Netflix's homepage showed that all three House of Cards seasons were available, even though Season 3 doesn't debut until February 27, when all episodes will be available for streaming. Netflix also tweeted out this message to fans who thought they were getting an early sneak peek before their screens went black:
Those who stumbled upon the leak were confused by the 10 episode count, but Netflix confirmed that there will indeed be 13 episodes when the season finally debuts on its scheduled date. Those watching the episodes were greeted with a Netflix error message before their episode could finish, which you can see below. It read: "Whoops, something went wrong...The video you are trying to play is not available." Mashable was able to get a screen grab of the available episodes along with some of their synopsis. The description for this new season reads:
"President Underwood fights to secure his legacy. Claire wants more than being First Lady. The biggest threat they face is contending with each other."
The first episode Chapter 27, which runs for 58-minutes, promises:
"A rocky start for the Underwood Presidency. Frank wants to introduce an ambitious jobs program, while Claire sets her sights on the United Nations."
Future episode descriptions tease an upcoming trip to Moscow, a hurricane that is about to hit the East Coast, and a hair-color change for Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright. A member of Mashable's staff who saw a portion of the first episode described a 'cavalcade of cars' and reports that Frank, played by series star Kevin Spacey, is seen peeing on the grave of Calvin Underwood, a relative of some importance. Who is Calvin? We'll have to wait until February 27 to find out. For now, check out these images that someone managed to grab before it all went away in a blinding flash. Though, read on at your own risk, there are MILD SPOILERS below:
