While Fox has many times found success with new comedy shows about animated families, the network will be pulling the plug on Duncanville. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has officially canceled the cartoon after three seasons. No new episodes will be produced, making the latest episode, the season 3 finale that aired on June 26, now serve as the show's series finale. The news was confirmed with a statement from Fox.“Mike Scully, Julie Thacker Scully and Amy Poehler delivered a unique animated family comedy with a distinct voice and point of view that we are proud of,” the statement read. “But we can confirm that this season will be its last on Fox. We look forward to the opportunity to work with Amy, Mike and Julie in the future.”There will be a limited batch of bonus episodes coming to Hulu. Six episodes were developed that were intended to be used in a potential fourth season. Now that the series has been axed, those episodes will go straight to streaming at Hulu along with the three seasons of the show that aired on television.

Duncanville was created by Mike Scully, Julie Thacker Scully, and Amy Poehler. It premiered on Fox in 2020 and follows the life of a 15-year-old boy named Duncan as well as his family and friends. Poehler voiced Duncan with the voice cast also including Ty Burrell, Riki Lindhome, Zach Cherry, Yassir Lester, Betsy Sodaro, Rashida Jones, Joy Osmanski, and Wiz Khalifa. A variety of guest stars have also been featured including Alice Cooper, Judy Sheindlin, Adam Scott, Aubrey Plaza, Nick Offerman, Retta, Stephen King, Jessica Simpson, Joan Jett, and Dave Grohl.

There are many fans online working to get the series saved. Some are pleading with NBC to rescue the series, pointing to how the network had done the same when Fox had booted the popular sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It might be more of an uphill battle to get Duncanville saved, as it was not a ratings hit, but that hasn't stopped the fans from putting in the effort. As NBC recently saved the Magnum P.I. reboot from its own cancelation at CBS, the chance is always there, so who really knows?

Tweeting about the news to series star Joy Osmanski, one fan said, "I’m sorry to hear about Duncanville. For three seasons, it was a fun time and I loved spending time with the Harris family. Jing was always such an adorable highlight. Hope you had a blast with Amy and the gang!"

Osmanski responded, "So glad you’ve enjoyed all the fun we’ve had. the next six will air on Hulu!"
