Although the original 2004 comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy was only a modest success at the box office, it quickly gained a cult following, and had rabid fans demanding a sequel for years. Steve Carell revealed that there was a time when none of the cast members thought this follow-up would actually happen.

"We all resigned ourselves to the fact that it was never going to happen. It just didn't seem to get any traction."

The sequel's story is set a few years after the original, with the Action 4 News team disbanded and Ron Burgundy now announcing a dolphin show at SeaWorld. He and the rest of the team are recruited for a 24-hour cable news network that puts the anchor in the national spotlight. Here's what Adam McKay had to say about that aspect of the story.

"The idea that Ron Burgundy would suddenly be on this national stage always seemed hilarious to us."

Will Ferrell also recalled one of his favorite fan moments that came from a photo of U.S. soldiers in Bagdhad.

"Someone sent me and Adam a photo of a troop transport carrier in Baghdad, in the days when the Iraq war was still pretty nasty. Ron Burgundy's face was stenciled on the side and it said, 'Stay classy, Baghdad.' That was one of the craziest things."
